A new South Dakota law requires "In God We Trust" to be displayed in public schools, in areas where students are "most likely" to see it — like a cafeteria or entryway.

It must also be at least 12-by-12 inches in size.

Lawmakers who proposed the law believe the quote will inspire patriotism, according to the Associated Press.
