The Root has a heavy slant to all of it's coverage so I wasn't surprised ... but I'm more interested in the kinds of conversations that black people simply refuse to have ...
Slavery was primarily about money early on. I'm willing to say that it was one thing and became racist as it was propagated by Europeans. However, slavery existed for a long damn time in Africa long before the Europeans showed up to BUY Africans FROM Africans.
So if you're WHITE and you own a BLACK slave then it's racist. If you're an African living a gazillion years ago before the Europeans showed up and you own a "slave" it was just common domestic practice like having a butler or servant in your house to take care of shit.
